Halloween 2011

Adam seemed to already know what to do on Halloween night this year, hands down. Last year it took a little coaxing in the beginning and then he caught on after a bit, but this year it seemed as though as soon as he put on his Spiderman costume, he knew he was going on a trek for candy. Daniel of course was asking two months in advance, "how many more days to Halloween?" It was funny to hear him say 22 more days till Halloween!! Both boys wanted to be Spiderman this year. I embraced it because I know there will only be these few short years that Daniel will allow the "matching" business to happen.

Daniel's 1st day of 1st Grade

Growing up!! Daniel's in a uniform this year and looking so cute. He also gets to sit in a desk vs. a group table. So proud of our 1st grader!

Seacliff August 2011

Our favorite spot EVER to go camping...Seacliff State Beach. Seven days of awesomeness. We spent the week relaxing on the beach, took many walks on the paved pathway along the seawall, venturing over to Natural Bridges State Beach, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, and spent a day in Monterey at the aquarium and Dennis the Menace Park. Highlights of the trip include Adam learning how to ride his bike (with training wheels). Seems like it would be so easy but the concept of continuuosly peddling forward is hard for the little ones. They have a constant urge to go forward and then immediately backwards, jerking the bike to a stop. Jason, always figuring out how to make things work better, tied a rope to the front of Adam's bike and pulled him until he figured out to continue peddling without putting on the brakes every few seconds! It only took one pass down the pathway and Adam mastered the concept, then REFUSED to get off of his bike! Another highlight was Daniel's confidence to try as many rides as he could. This year he rode the log ride (too steep for me!), and the huge pirate ship swinging ride. He loved every single ride he tried! I think the trip to Disneyland was a great introduction to fun rides and helped curb his fears thar he had a year ago. Maybe next year he'll be tall enough for some of the bigger rides. Cannot wait to go back again to Seacliff next summer.

Camping - Petaluma Coast Guard Training Facility

Father's Day weekend, we headed to       Petaluma to the Coast Guard Training Facility with Nana and Papa Fred, the Ayers and the Cameron's.  It was a fun time with everyone.  It's always so relaxing and peacefully quiet being the only ones out there.  The kids had a blast riding bikes, scooters, venturing into the grassy meadow, walking around the pond, and fishing!  Adam caught his first fish, but didn't want to touch it!  I don't blame him :)

Disneyland Vacation Summer 2011

The boys were absolutely ecstatic. Disneyland - every kids dream. Grandpa and Grandma took all of us to Disneyland...the happiest place on earth. It was one of the most memorable vacations for the following reasons:1) Seeing the sheer excitement on the kids face as we pulled up to the Disneyland Hotel (and seeing my dad outside in the hotel parking lot when we arrived looking just as excited as the kids were)
2) It was a "family" vacation...10 of us
3) We got to stay at the Disneyland Hotel (not sure if we'll be able to stay there on our own future trips -$$$)
4) The hotel just went thru renovations and an exterior pool overhaul and Daniel faced his fears and went on his first swirly waterslide...and loved it!!! Adam also went on a waterslide just right for his size and loved it too!
5) The boys got the characters autographs...Daniel was totally into it. Adam on the other hand had complete terror on his face when a character was near (all of them but the princesses since he could tell they were real people).
6) We ate dinner with the characters at Goofy's Kitchen...very fun
7) The rides...being able to ride the rides with the whole family was unforgettable at Disneyland and California Adventure.
8) Watching the kids drive the cars like I remember being my favorite when I was a little girl
9) Gotta put in one trying part in this...the long drive with a toddler who has HATED the car since Day 1 and refuses to sleep in the car. Yeah, only a 20 minute snooze on the way there and a 30 minute snooze on the way home for an 8-hour drive was very hard. Next time -- flying.
10) The trip was just down right FUN!!! :)

Thanks Mom and Dad!!!!

Lugnuts 2011

Jason managed and coached another year of baseball.  This year, we bumped Daniel up to "coach pitch" since Jay could not tolerate two years of coaching t-ball!  Daniel was the youngest kid in the division, but he did great.  The Lugnuts had a strong year and we're looking forward to another season. GO Daniel....
